China's new vehicle sales rise for 5th month
China's new vehicle sales rose for a fifth straight month in June, thanks to strong demand for electric and other alternative energy models.
Figures released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers on Thursday show unit sales, including exports, jumped 13.8 percent year-on-year to 2.94 million.
Sales of New Energy Vehicles, including electric and plug-in hybrid models, surged 26.7 percent, helped by government trade-in incentives.
The category accounted for 45.8 percent of overall sales.
It remains unclear what impact the Trump administration's imposition of tariffs on imports of Chinese autos will have on the sales trend.
